ANA T. JACOBS was born inBuenos Aires , Argentina . She was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar in 1995 and is also a member of the US Court of Appeals Bar for the Fourth Circuit and of the US District Court for the District of Columbia. She obtained a Master's Degree in Sociology from the University of Buenos Aires in 1979, and a J.D. from Catholic University in 1994. Ms. Jacobs worked as a Resettlement Officer for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees from 1976 to 1984.

Awards and recognitions include:

-Associate Recipient Nobel Peace Prize awarded to UNHCR, 1984
-Recipient, Human Rights Achievement Award, Outstanding
Contribution to the Hispanic Community, 1999.

Ms. Jacobs is fluent in Spanish and French.
