Cultural Exchange and Religious Workers (Q/R)

Q-1 visas are non-immigrant visas available to foreign nationals coming to work in positions at schools, museums, entertainment establishments or other businesses that will expose the American public to foreign cultures as part of a cultural program. A typical example would be cultural entertainment at a theme park.

Q-2 visas may also be available to residents of Ireland coming to participate in job training programs in hospitality, tourism, customer service, information technology, pharmaceuticals, engineering, sales, marketing, promotion, agriculture, food processing, or the furniture industry.

Generally, R visas are issued to foreign nationals who are long-term members of a established non-profit religious organization and are coming to work solely as a minister or other exclusively religious vocation (nuns), or in a professional capacity (requiring a Bachelor’s) in a religious vocation.
