E Visas for Traders and Investors
The Treaty Trader/Investor visa is designed for nationals of countries who have a treaty of commerce and navigation with the United States. For a list of treaty countries, go to http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciprocity/reciprocity_3726.html.
There are two categories in this classification. E1 is designated for individuals who come to the US to carry on substantial trade. E2 is for those individuals who come to the US to invest a substantial amount of capital or to direct a business in which he/she has already invested funds. The applicant may qualify as a trader or investor or as an employee of a trader of investor having the same nationality. There is no quota for E1-E2 admissions. There are no time limitations for E visas, but E visas holders must renew their visa every two years.
